WEEK 1:

Lina Bo Bardi. Casa de Vidro- Glass House
I enjoy the transparency of the house as it opens a view to the luscious nature outside. The steel metal çage’ holding the structure of the windows is a beautiful aesthetic touch as it reminds me of a steam punk/industrial aesthetic. The surrounding plants engrosses the building, creating a microcosmic world that hidden and removed from the urban city. It seems to be a quiet and peaceful environment.

This series reflects on how the emotional and spiritual experience of being human will change in an increasingly artificial future. What will be the role of spirituality in an increasingly artificial and machine dominated world? We perceive machines and humans are different, yet with the advancements of with artificial intelligence, the distinctions between artificial and natural are being blurred. The abstract form inspired by Jason Hopkins, embodies the coexistence of machine and human in this age of technology. The artwork combines the contrasting textures and shapes (bulbous skin vs the rigid metal cage) to symbolize the inevitable integration of artificiality in human lives.

This photo was part of an experimental photography series. The 'pink slime' that is in the middle of the image was made out of laundry detergent, glue and liquid foundation. Although none of us expected the 'Pinterest DIY slime' to create a beautiful dripping effect, the texture it created was rather beautiful.
